Audio listening
devises and program dowloads
A good Windows-based MP3
player is
MusicMatch, which allows you to find, record, manage and play music
all with the same program.
Real.com offers "Basic" and "Plus" versions of
RealJukebox, an add-on to the
RealPlayer streaming media player. Excellent choice!!
Winamp is a freeware music player that supports MP3s, CDs and other
audio formats - but does not allow you to record MP3s. Most compatible
for streaming radio.
SoundJam and
Macast are a couple of top MP3 players for Macintoshes.
CNET's download.com offers reviews players and encoders and links to
download them.
Audio editing: Converting Music
to MP3 format,
If you
need to convert your music from whatever format you're using to an MP3.
With easily obtainable software, your computer can extract the tracks
from a CD in .wav file form - or "ripping" - and then encode them into
the MP3 audio format. A program that is easy to use is
Audiocatalyst. There are numerous other
comparable software options; some free, some available for a nominal
fee. CNET's
download.com is anouther good source.
Somewhere in your chosen
ripping/encoding software you will be given the option of selecting a
bit rate for your MP3 files. The bit rate determines the file size and
sound quality of your MP3s. Higher bit rates equal higher sound quality
and file size (and longer download time). A good benchmark is the
128kbps rate that is accepted as CD quality sound.
There are many options for audio
editing programs (SoundForge,
CoolEdit,
GoldWave) and stand-alone encoders (Right-click
MP3,
MusicMatch,
Audiograbber) Just to name a few.
Microsoft's 'Windows Media Format'. The free
Windows Media Encoder can convert your wave or mp3 to
Windows media, wma, format. If you use Windows 98 then you have to use
Windows Media Encoder 7.1, if you are using Windows XP or 2000 then
use Windows Media Encoder 9.1.
After using the tool you want to end up with a file with a ".wma"
extension.
If you are using Media Encoder 7.1 then encode using the "Audio for
Dial-Up Modems (56 Kps sterio)" profile. If you are using Media
Encoder 9.1 then encode using the "CD Quality" profile.
If the internet connection is too slow for listening to solos
online, right click the 'WMA' text, choose 'Save Target As ...", save
the file to your hard drive, and then double click the file on your
hard drive. Note: You are not allowed to download the backing tracks
from this page

Below is some info that will help you to get up and streaming. video:
The Internet
Movie Data Base (IMDB) on tap. OK, so there's really no need or
reason to argue or worry about film-related trivia in the first
place, but that won't stop us. The IMDB is the biggest and best
film and TV reference available, and it's a click away. You can
search titles, actors, producers, other crewmembers, awards,
trivia, quotes, and more. It's essential. Find the answer at the
Internet Movie Data Base! http://us.imdb.com

tip-
Great news! I just found out how to get rid of Pop-Ups via
settings on Internet Explorer. If you don't have Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher
(I have 8.0), you can download it for free and upgrade your existing
Internet Explorer version. If you don't know which version you have, click on "Help" at
the top of your browser and then "About Internet Explorer".
To get rid of pop-ups:
1. Right click on the Internet Explorer icon on your desk top, or, from your
browser, click on "Tools" and then "Internet Options". Click on "Properties."
2. Click on the "Security" tab.
3. Click on the "Custom Level..." button.
4. Scroll down to almost near the bottom until you see "Scripting". Under
"Scripting" there are three items; "Active Scripting", "Allow paste operations
via scripting", and "Scripting of Java Applets". Click on the "Prompt" circles
for each one of those items. for a more secure experience click on the "Disable"
circles.
5. Click on the "OK" button and then "yes" to accept the changes.
6. That's it! Voila! No more pop-ups!

Encoding
media:
Once
you have captured your media onto your computer, you are ready to
encode it. Encoding is just a term used to describe the
compression of your media file into a readable format ready to be
served by a streaming media server.
Some users who desire
professional quality may wish to enhance the audio and video
files, using tools like Adobe Premiere and Sonic Foundry's Sound
Forge, prior to encoding. However, this is not a necessary step
for beginners.
To encode your media file requires that you
download and install the encoding software tool from RealNetworks, Microsoft or Apple (depending on the format you
wish to stream). Basic free versions and more advanced versions
of the encoders are available. To download the software, simply
click the tool of your preference:
